Hello!  My name is Jim Fleener. I'm a Chess Instructor living in Tucson, Arizona who is available to teach both group and private chess lessons to children (and adults) of all ages, both online and in-person.  Beginners are especially welcome!

I've been teaching chess full time for over twenty years and I'm certified by the United States Chess Federation as a Chess Coach and Club Tournament Director.  In addition to providing private tutoring, I also teach in public and private schools as well as neighborhood groups.

I have tutored both adults and children in English, math, computer programming, and software applications.  I've volunteered with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program and I'm a member of the United States Chess Federation.  I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from UT San Antonio and have completed two years of study in the School of Social Work at UT Austin.

While emphasizing fun and learning, I use each teaching opportunity to increase
